I believe that from now on Thanksgiving at the Beckstrom house will be different. I feel like it will be a time that we can use this years experiences to be truly thankful for health, the gospel, and especially each other. We had one of those moments after Thanksgiving where you pull out all the leftovers and basically eat yourselves sick again, only this year it wasn't stuffing ourselves that created the sick feeling. My youngest brother-in-law has many life-threatening allergies and one of them happens to be poultry. Yep, the big bird itself. Years past have gone off fairly well as everyone in the family is especially sensitive to the seriousness of his allergies, only this year, something happened, who knows what and during our Thanksgiving leftovers while eating his ham sandwich he got a large piece of whatever stuck in his throat and couldn't get it up or down. It's one of those moments where you start to go over CPR in your head to make sure that if you have to do it, you do it right. Needless to say, thankfully his airway was unaffected and it was only a blockage in his esophagus. But, he spent the next hour trying to chase down whatever was stuck with some water only to immediately throw it back up. It wasn't but maybe 10 minutes after I asked him if it was time to go yet (to the E.R. that is) that he managed to get it out. One of those times that I love to watch the brothers come together and support each other. Gordon was right there with him standing by the sink the whole time. (While Tony and Van Jr. made jokes from the table, things like pureed food and stuff, their Beckstroms, it's fine)
So, while Thanksgiving leftovers are great, after that, my mother-in-law sent them all straight to the garbage!
Next year, I'm sure it will be ham only and that we will all spend a little more time thinking about how grateful we are that Luke is fine, and that we don't have to puree his foods.

This is Luke when he wasn't puking. Funny, we call him Puke and he puked. :)
