The second problem for the day came with trying to convince Kade that he needed to wear a coat. Not a jacket, not a sweatshirt but a coat. (This was after I made him go change out of his shorts and into pants) You guessed it, Kade won. So, at 30 degrees this morning my young son was dropped of to school with just his sweatshirt on. Now, do you think the boy that didn't want to wear long sleeves or a coat took his sweatshirt off once he got to school? Nope, wore that stupid thing ALL day!!! What a kid. What I want to know is what is wrong with the men in my home. Tony wears short no matter what day, time or season and when I told Kade to go get some warm PJ's on tonight because we were going to be keeping the heater set low and it might get cold, this is what he put on................................

What happens when winter comes?
Last night we had what I declared the beginning of scraping season. For those of you who's cars sleep at night in the garage you won't understand, but anyone with outside parking will feel my pain. Scraping season is (in my case, because I work at night) when I can't just finish work and go home. No, I have to start the van, let it warm and defrost. I have to scrape the windows, all of the windows on the van (i can't see well if I don't) and then, 1000 hours later when the duty is done, I can go home. Scraping season makes a 12 hour shift feel like 20. This morning I was introduced to scraping season in a painful way. It wasn't that unpleasant when I left for work last night so I didn't think to grab a coat. Well, when I came out to an inch of freaking snow this morning on the van it required the "treatment" so me in my scrubs took to the task of cleaning my van off. I was very excited to find one of Tony's hoody sweatshirts in the van, only to plummet into self pitty that it was still wet. Wet you say? Yep, I forgot it was there and we used it to clean up a turned to quick and spilled a drink accident in the van. Oh, happiness soon returned when I found a lap blanket. Yeah warmth. The next item I needed was my scraper. Hum. Don't know where it was but luckily the snow was light and so with a hand full of tissues I cleaned my windows off. So, while I love the start of winter, I love the snow, I love wearing warm, cover up your fat clothes, I definitly need to put my winter kit back in the van.

This post had me cracking up. I HATE scraping the snow off my car when you are so tired and already freezing cold! I think I am going to go buy that defrosting spray and give it a try. My three year old comes out with me to help Ethan get on the bus in the morning in his shorts, no coat and no shoes. Then he rides his bike up and down the street that way. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a great mother. You pick your battles as a mom and that is not one I choose to fight:)
ahh.. the beloved scraping season! Hopefully the season will be short this year (although not looking likely)
